The Mandarin Oriental, London – commissioned 2018

The restoration of the Edwardian style Mandarin Oriental in Hyde Park was completed in June 2018. It was the most extensive restoration since it opened its doors in 1908 as the ‘Hyde Park Hotel’.

The building dates back to 1882 and was used by Queen Victoria and the Royal Family up until 1908 when it became a hotel. Architects Archer and Green envisaged the building to be an apartment block taking advantage of its corner plot taking in views of Hyde Park.
The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group purchased the hotel in 1996 and the hotel became the ‘Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park’.

During the extensive, £57 million renovations, Hampton worked with the project architects and main contractor to design and supply bespoke, glazed, fire-rated corridor doors. As well as a complete restoration of the hotel and rooms, it also included a redesign of the restaurants and bar areas led by internationally recognised interior designer, Joyce Wang.
